Attendance Policy:

If there are any barriers that prevent your student from attending school every day, we have an attendance hotline to call for information and resources to help. Whether you need assistance with bus transportation, uniforms, supplies, or technology, the attendance hotline can help connect you with resources to get your student in #SchoolEveryDay. Attendance Hotline: 410-396-8643 (Monday-Friday: 9 am to 5 pm).

For more information, visit the district's Attendance page.

Health Services:

When students cannot attend school because of medical, physical, or emotional conditions, our Home and Hospital program can arrange for instruction to be delivered in other settings. For assistance please call, 410-396-0775. For more information, visit the district's Health Services page.

Homeless Support:

If a student or family is experiencing homelessness, they should contact their school’s social worker. Families and students can also call City Schools’ Homeless Liaison at 410-396-0775 or visit 2000 Edgewood Street, Baltimore, MD. For more information, visit the district's Homeless Services page.

Immunizations:

All students are required to have certain immunizations (also known as vaccinations or shots) to attend school, as outlined by the Maryland Health Department. Schools must keep a record of every student's immunization record. If your child's school has a health center, the staff there can also help you with immunizations. For more information, visit the district's Immunizations page.

Bullying, Harassment, and Discrimination

All students have the right to a safe, supportive school environment. Bullying, harassment, or intimidation will not be tolerated. Bullying can be reported by students, parents, staff members, or anyone who witnesses or is concerned about an alleged incident. For more information, visit the district's Addressing Bullying, Harassment, and Sex-Based Discrimination page.

Chronic Absenteeism & Truancy:

Students who are absent for 10% or more of school days (if they were expected to attend for at least ten days) are considered chronically absent and struggle to keep up in school. Truancy is a legal term used to identify students who have missed more than 20% of school days (about 3.5 days per month) without a legal reason. Attendance Hotline: 410-396-8643 (Monday-Friday: 9 am to 5 pm).

For more information, visit the district's Attendance page.
